Have you ever gone to take a shower and you’re hit with ice-cold water? Most people don’t think about their water heater’s importance until it stops working. But like any other appliance in your home, you should schedule regular maintenance checkups to keep the hot water flowing through your home and prevent repairs.

Here are some signs you should look for to know when you need a water heater repair:

  1. Discolored Water – The water from your tap should be clear and colorless. If the water is running brown, rusty, or has dark particles in it, it means your water heater has a sediment buildup. This clearly indicates that your water heater needs to be professionally cleaned.
  2. Not Enough Hot Water –Another clear indication that you need a water heater repair is if you run out of hot water faster than usual. If you’re used to a certain amount of time for your shower or you are used to cleaning all the dinner dishes in one go, but now you’re running out of hot water before you’re done, you need to schedule a repair.
  3. Leaking Water – If you find puddles pooling around your water heater, there is something wrong. The leaking water could indicate a problem with the tank and could lead to corrosion, so make sure to call for a water heater repair immediately.
